The same explosion that created the Atomic Farmer gave life to the legendary Night Pigs. Powered by a nuclear core, the dark swines fly through the night at incredible speed.

Today I drew a nervous MiniPig (they seem to be in vogue)

A LITTLE GOBLIN THAT WISHES HE WAS A MAN.

This is the Goblin President. 

His Mother was a Human. His Father was a Goblin.

They both disowned him very early.

He is to cute to be a proper Goblin and too ugly to be a human.

Everybody hates him.

When he is alone in his cave, he climbs over a headless mannequin, and sits on the neck. 

For a few moments he feels like he's a human. It feels good.

ROSIE THE ROBOTEER

This is the cover I did for PROYECTO DISEÑO MAGAZINE #72 XIV LAPIZ DE ACERO (steel pencil) AWARD NOMINEES Edition.

This is a simple story. I was asked to do a cover with the only condition that I should include the "Lapiz de Acero" statuette in the image. I did four proposals for this cover.

1. War of the worlds 2.Space Oddysey
3. Steampunk 4. The window.

For some people it may be kind of obvious that most images come from some specific references. I have a lot of baggage in my head.

Fortunately my friend (and sometimes mentor) Andres Barrientos, one of Colombia's best illustrators, gave me some advice on the management of cliches in the image. So, I subverted the meaning of the images. Woman building robot, turned into Robot building human. Giving life with the afore mentioned Statuette.

I worked mostly on lights and transparencies. Not so much on textures. I gave it an over all shadow that turned it a bit "baroque" at the end.

HOW TO COOK A RAMEN CUP OF NOODLES

My Friend Catalina Alba, author of the Blog www.loquesecocinaenestacasa.com invited me to participate in her website with an illustrated recipe. Very kindly she describes the process that produced this result. You should visit her site (with google translate) because it's pretty useful and the presentation it's so nice. 


Now, onto the Image.


For this image, I tried to concentrate  mostly on creative layout, which I think is one of the main (and sometimes overlooked) strengths of comic books. The challenge was to squeeze the biggest amount of story into the image, making the most of the spaces. 

Also, I used a lot of sinuous patterns to complete and make a more dynamic image, sort of referencing early Japanese design. 

For those of you who don't know, FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER is a very popular deity on the Internet.

It was invented by some guy challenging the feasibility of god and satirically pointing that he might as well pray to a flying spaghetti monster. 

Previously I posted the Lettering design for FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER . Inspired, obviously, by Ultraman's Font design.

This is another wallpaper made for the contest we did for the people who bought our DVD with the LITTLE TYRANT series. The prize was a custom-made image for the winners. The second one is for twitter user @mdeangulo , who chose STAR WARS for the theme.

This was a commission to illustrate the mining situation in Colombia.
Millions of acres of national territory are being auctioned to foreign mining companies.

(I think it's not going to see the light of print because the concept of the illustration turned out to harsh)

This is a decidedly unique and interesting picture. A little colored baby is tied to a post on a tropical shore. A huge 'gator comes out of the water, and is about to devour the little kid, when a hunter appears and shoots the reptile.

The "Alligator Bait" Stereotype was mostly seen on the late nineteenth century to the mid twentieth century. It depicted the horrendous practice of Alligator hunters that used African-American kids to bait alligators.

Today, Alligator Bait, is used as a derogatory term against African-American people.

I, in no way, want to condone or promote this stereotypes.

IMAGINARY POSTER PROJECT #001: SOLDIERS OF THE CROSS (1900)

 

Imaginary Poster Project consists in creating the posters of movies I've never seen, just by reading the synopsis and taglines from the IMDB. (it's mostly a training exercise in visual narration, design, composition and font design) ORIGINAL SIZE

The first one is a piece of early gore:

1.Soldiers of the Cross (1900)

The plot outlined the story of the early Christian martyrs with a compendium of horrors guaranteed to jolt audiences into an awareness of terrible suffering for the sake of Christianity. Contained maulings at the Colosseum, crucifixions, beheadings, savage hackings and burnings at the stake, burnings in the limepit, the spectacle of human torches in Nero's garden. Overall "soul stirring stories of the martyrs, illustrated by the most beautiful living pictures by kinematograph and limelight and never before witnessed in this or any other country.
