GRE FLASH CARDS ILLUSTRATED
Due to the scholarship requirement I had to take the infernal GRE test. I really can't memorize things I don't give a crap about, so I had to do my own flash cards to learn some of the bombastic language they make you learn for this exam.

WHO MOVED MY CHEESE??
This was a commission to illustrate the mining situation in Colombia.
Millions of acres of national territory are being auctioned to foreign mining companies.
(I think it's not going to see the light of print because the concept of the illustration turned out to harsh)
Meh, whatcha gonna do.

Imaginary Poster Project #002: Alligator Bait (1900)
Imaginary Poster Project consists in creating the posters of movies I've never seen, just by reading the synopsis and taglines from the IMDB. ORIGINAL SIZE
2.Alligator Bait (1900)
This is a decidedly unique and interesting picture. A little colored baby is tied to a post on a tropical shore. A huge 'gator comes out of the water, and is about to devour the little kid, when a hunter appears and shoots the reptile.
Directed by;

Cast:

U.S.A 1900

The "Alligator Bait" Stereotype was mostly seen on the late nineteenth century to the mid twentieth century. It depicted the horrendous practice of Alligator hunters that used African-American kids to bait alligators.
Today, Alligator Bait, is used as a derogatory term against African-American people.
I, in no way, want to condone or promote this stereotypes.

IMAGINARY POSTER PROJECT #001: SOLDIERS OF THE CROSS (1900)
The first one is a piece of early gore:
1.Soldiers of the Cross (1900)
The plot outlined the story of the early Christian martyrs with a compendium of horrors guaranteed to jolt audiences into an awareness of terrible suffering for the sake of Christianity. Contained maulings at the Colosseum, crucifixions, beheadings, savage hackings and burnings at the stake, burnings in the limepit, the spectacle of human torches in Nero's garden. Overall "soul stirring stories of the martyrs, illustrated by the most beautiful living pictures by kinematograph and limelight and never before witnessed in this or any other country.

# OILWHALE
The world is now in debt.
Here's a weird coincidence that I would like to clarify... My Oil-Whale is not related in any way with www.oilwhale.com, a company from Finland that develops an oil spill recovery system called "OilWhale"
So, that's that.

HOSPITAL SECURITY, A FLIP CHART
The following are some illustrations made for a flip chart commisioned by the PAHO (Pan American Health organization) in alliance with the WHO, UNICEF, RED CROSS, RED HALF MOON and ISDR, European Commission for humanitarian help.
It centers in Hospital security as the base for preventing disasters.
Ideas and texts by Gustavo Wilches-Chaux (My father)
1.Cover: Safe hospitals in the face of disasters.
2. Three Little Pigs: A safe and resistant health center, benefits all.
3. Motorcycle: There are investments where you should not save money.
Safety on health facilities is one of them. A Safe hospital, a right for all.
4. A safe health facility, helps us deal with any disaster.
- Permanent maintenance - Trained personnel - Responsible users
- Structural reinforcement - Risk management plan - Equipment
5. Size doesn't matter. Health facilities come in many sizes. But all must be equally safe.
6. No Worries. If this was our roof, any rain shower would by a cause for concern.
If these were our health services. What should worry us? How can we remove this worry?
In the middle of developing this flip book. Haiti was struck by an earthquake causing one of the biggest disasters of 2009. Mainly because poverty and corruption had affected most of the country's hospital integrity. Many of the third world countries don't count with secure health installations to face disasters.

E-GO character designs. Tad & E-GO!
E-GO! is the prototype of a series of robots built for a very specific labor. But this E-GO! unlike his mass produced mates has a huge flaw that reveals a huge conspiracy and triggers a series of adventures when he meets with Tad.
This is an updated design for a project I started on 2007. For previous designs and sketches http://www.flickr.com/photos/elprofe/2047988386/in/set-72157615200756405/
Tad comes from a broken home. His father left before he was born and his mother spends all of her time away, working as a freelance journalist. Because of this, Tad has little self-esteem and is scared mostly of everything. He has built an armor to hide from all fears that torment him.

"LAS AVENTURAS DE LOS HUEVOS DEMOCRÁTICOS" // ADVENTURES OF THE DEMOCRATIC EGGS
This week, in a repeated effort to interfere with the presidential race, outgoing president Alvaro Uribe said that Colombia should keep protecting the Eggs of his "Democratic security" with the same hen.
So, let's help him keep his legacy alive with:

BECOME A VOTING WITNESS! so says Miss Etelvina
TESTIGOS ELECTORALES from Simonwilchesc on Vimeo.
Written by Santiago Rocha, Santiago Rivas, Simón Wilches
Doña Etelvina's Voice by Santiago Rocha // Narrator's voice by Santiago Rivas
Animatión by Simón Wilches Castro
"A quick institutional made to inspire people to become a "voting witness" for the election day. It was commissioned by Colombian's Green Party.
The original inspiration came from UPA shorts and Zagreb's Bordo. And also instructional videos from the 50's.
I'm very happy with the result, but in retrospective I shouldn't have made Miss Etelvina's breasts so big because there's no room for the mouth, I had to get a bit arbitrary with it.
Eh! What you gonna do."

The Little Sprites.
The following image is another promo Wallpaper made for the Little Tyrant.
Originally it was a mock propaganda for the running presidential campaign of the tyrants. It's a parody on the slogan of a local presidential candidate which kinda looks like an old woman* and supports his campaign on the concept that "going back it's not an option"
Just like the gameplay on the original Mario Bros and Megaman games.
Here's some clipart with alpha background so you can decorate your power point presentations. ;)
*Pertegaz Syndrome: When a man starts to look like an old woman with age.

My good friend Edweard Muybridge made this photo-study of the character running.
More to come. Enjoy.

12 MEXICAN FILMS
This was a quick commission (12 images / 12 hours) to do some interpretations of twelve Mexican films from the golden age of cinema. Since I've never seen the movies I had to do the images based on the synopsis. This was a fun exercise based on the form of Eduardo Gonzalez Bachs, the cuban poster artist. They're just a pale version of the genius that is Bachs, but, It's a way to study the master.

HOMO SAPEENS BACKGROUNDS
These are the backgrounds I made for the new episode of The Little Tyrant. Because the episode is a parody of an old colombian nursery rhyme. I tried to do a more cartoonish kind of background, inspired by fairy tales and Disney's sleeping beauty style by Eyvind Earle.
You can go Fullsize by clicking on the pictures.
Enjoy :)
